How to Order
|
For bespoke pieces:
In the first instance you will need to contact us for a quotation and to find out how quickly I could make
your order.
Quotations are valid for one calendar month.
Once the price and delivery date have been agreed, I'll need measurements to work from. There are three ways
forward at this point:
Once you order the price will not change unless you alter the specification.
The price quoted will not include postage and packing (aka shipping and handling), which I charge at
cost, unless otherwise stated (if we give you a 'delivered' price, then p&p is included). If you'd like an estimate of the shipping cost, let me know, I'll look it up! (I will ship worldwide, although please be aware that I will not ship items uninsured).
Do bear in mind, though, that the postage cost may change due to fluctuations in shipping company
prices.
Delivery times vary according to the time of year and other factors, (such as the necessity for fittings,
toiles, etc), so if I quote you a delivery time of 'X' weeks in January, it might be 'X' weeks + 2 months if you
choose not to order till July. Although I have been known to fill orders in less than two weeks, a wait
of 6 - 8 months is more likely - but contact us (you never know!)
I don't charge extra for large sizes - (whether your chest size is 34", 42" or 68", I will charge you the
same price for the same garment). As the bulk of my work is fully bespoke (I cut a new pattern to your
own measurements, rather than alter an existing one), I do not charge extra for non-standard sizes, or for people who have one shoulder higher than the other, etc, etc).
Deposit
Along with your measurements, I will need a (non-refundable*) deposit of approximately 30% of the total order value (excl. shipping), to secure your place in my work schedules. (For some organisations I may accept an official purchase order in lieu of this.)
Payment and Delivery
Clients resident in the UK may make payments by cheque, postal order, bank transfer, or cash if in
person. Please do not send cash through the post, as I cannot be held responsible if it goes missing,
and you cannot insure it.
Overseas clients should pay by either international money order, banker's draft, banker's cheque, bank transfer, or
PayPal.
I can also accept personal cheques.
I can accept these payments in hard currencies other than Pounds Sterling (GBP), but I must make a charge of 2% of the payment amount, to cover bank charges. (On orders over £500, I waive this fee.)
New clients should note that payment will be required on completion of your garments, rather than on
delivery.
I will let you know in writing when I am about to make your order, or when it is ready, and will let you know the full
balance, including shipping cost). Payment is then due within 14 days, and all goods will be sent within
14 days of the clearance of payment, unless otherwise agreed.
All deliveries are made either using Royal Mail Special Delivery for UK customers, or by parcel courier.
All parcels are fully insured, and traceable. Please do not ask me to send any items via an uninsured or untracked
postage method.
If you are outside the EU, your national customs office may impose additional fees. Such fees are
levied by, and payable to, local customs, and I am not responsible for them in any way. To find out what
fees you may be liable for, you should contact your local customs authorities.
Please note: orders can only be placed under a client's real name - I regret that I cannot accept
orders placed under a pseudonym. Additionally, although I am happy to post items to a work
address, private clients must provide their residential address (naturally, this does not apply to
business orders).
All cheques / postal orders should be made payable to D Lough.

Once the price and delivery date have been agreed, I'll need measurements to work from. There are three ways
forward at this point:
- I can send you a measurement form and guide, and you can measure yourself and forward the completed form to me.
- You can make an appointment to visit me, either at an event, or at my studio, and I will take your measurements.
- I can make a garment to a standard size, based on height and chest measurement - for bespoke pieces, this is normally only used when garments need to fit more than one person.
